You may need to google Hakatere Potts Road but it has become one of my favourite stretches of gravel in New Zealand – 49 kilometres to be precise, from our accommodation in Mt Somers to Mt Sunday. For those of you who are familiar with The Lord of the Rings, Mt Sunday was transformed into Edoras – Rohan’s capital city.

The road itself, is easy to travel and needless to say, the scenery is quite awe inspiring.
