The last few visits to Te Aroha to see my Mum included as many walks up the mountain to Bald Spur as possible and capturing the colour and style of the many homes and buildings in the town. Usually around sunset as well to make the most of the light and colour of the sky. Most of the shots are in the vicinity of the main thoroughfare, Whitaker Street. It’s a place that really hasn’t seen as much growth as the neighbouring townships but it does attract a lot of people in the weekend who come for the hot mineral spas, the various walks around the mountain and of course, the coffee shops!

The quaint architecture, wooden houses and renovated buildings are a delight to capture
